Would a manufacturer in an OZ who sells its products nationwide count as a QOZB?

Since a QOF must hold 90% of its assets in QOZP and 50% of the gross income must be derived from inside the OZ, would a manufacturer in an OZ who sells its products nationwide count? What if the QOZB gets much of its income from selling its products online?

That sounds like it would count. Selling products nationwide is OK, provided the business is physically located in an OZ and meets the statutory requirements.

The tests for a Qualified Opportunity Zone Business (QOZB) require the business to have 70% of its tangible assets in an Opportunity Zone and must derive more than 50% of its income from activities within an Opportunity Zone. For a manufacturing business, the location of its customers would not likely disqualify the business from being a QOZB, provided it met the specific tests for assets and income generation. In most cases, a manufacturing operation located within an Opportunity Zone should qualify as a QOZB although other facts and circumstances matter.

Yes, the manufacturer should qualify, as long as the goods are produced within and sold from within the OZ.
