Scott McIntosh is an attorney. He is the founding partner of Opportunity Zone Consulting Group, a Lexington, Kentucky-based advisory focusing on legal strategies and solutions for Opportunity Zone investments.
Opportunity Zone Consulting provides investment and development consultation, step-by-step project assistance and investor relationship management services to organizations who wish to utilize the Opportunity Zone tax incentives. Advisors of the firm assist clients in funds structuring, site selection and compliance.
McIntosh brings his extensive experience in real estate investment and property development-related legal issues to the firm. He helps developers establish law-compliant Qualified Opportunity Funds and guides private investors to make better investment decisions that generate better returns.
In addition to his engagement in the Opportunity Zone industry, he currently also serves as the chief of military justice for the Kentucky Army National Guard, where he supervises all military justice operations, advises commanders and manages training sessions. He also serves as general counsel at Burrell Management Division, a company that operates 17 McDonald’s franchises in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and the surrounding area.
McIntosh’s legal career started in the U.S. Army, where he served as a judge advocate for U.S. Army Africa and the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. He provided consulting services to soldiers and their families, reviewed military contracts and mentored junior officers. He also interned for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Education, and was a teacher for Teach For America in San Francisco.
McIntosh obtained his juris doctor from Harvard Law School and his master’s degree in education from Alliant International University. He also holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in economics and another in accounting, from the University of Kentucky.
